The ESOR project aims to improve the oral health of older people and people with chronic diseases in remote, especially rural, areas. The project consists of 3 phases: 1. Improving oral health knowledge in the SUDOE region thanks to the work carried out under the JAPrevent NCD & Cancer program, funded by the EC, in which an oral health pilot project is planned to increase the skills and knowledge in oral health of professionals in contact with target populations where they live, work and/or travel, using the educational content developed in the ERASMUS + “Oral Health” project. 2. Examining target groups for priority conditions associated with a decline in intrinsic capacities, including oral health, using the ICOPE tool developed by WHO and democratizing oral health telemedicine in areas with low density of healthcare professionals, using the e-DENT program of Montpellier University Hospital and following the WHO mOralHealth program. 3. Increasing the skills of local healthcare professionals to meet care needs and developing inter-professional telemedicine in oral health to ensure quality of care. These actions will only be possible if changes occur in health policies, professional standards, and political will. This program will contribute to reducing inequalities in oral health between urban and rural areas, above all it will improve the oral health of the target groups and, therefore, their quality of life and general health. By implementing these actions in the SUDOE region, we will face three different healthcare systems and propose a common methodology that can be reproduced in other European countries to combat the scourge of oral diseases worldwide. By bringing together France (Occitania), Portugal (Alentejo) and Spain (Andalusia, Murcia, Valencia). We are combining complementary skills and knowledge.
