RePo-SUDOE

Drug Repurposing for Effective and Accelerated Drug Development in the SUDOE Space

The RePo-SUDOE project seeks to excel in the area of drug repurposing in the SUDOE space. Its focus on repurposing existing drugs for new therapies aims to address the high failure rates, costs and delays in the development of new drugs. Through multidisciplinary collaboration and the development of innovative technologies, RePo-SUDOE aims to raise the level of research and development in the region with a key objective: to develop and disseminate drug repurposing technologies with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the SUDOE space in this area of R&D, boosting the biopharmaceutical industry and attracting skilled human resources.

Descripción

New drug development faces high costs, long delays and high failure rates. RePo-SUDOE emerges as a response to these challenges, focusing on drug repurposing: a strategy that repurposes existing drugs for new therapeutic applications, benefiting the pharmaceutical industry, society and patients.

Our main objective is to turn the SUDOE area into a European benchmark in drug repurposing, developing and disseminating advanced technologies that increase competitiveness and attract skilled talent.

How do we achieve this?

  • We promote scientific knowledge and disseminate drug repurposing technologies among public and private actors, raising our R&D centres to the level of European excellence.
  • We foster multidisciplinary collaboration through a transnational network, identifying innovative opportunities and developing methodologies, in the first instance, to treat cancer.
  • We created a 3D visualisation room with virtual and augmented reality technologies, offering an interactive and educational experience for young students and researchers.

RePo-SUDOE unites for the first time partners from different SUDOE regions and areas of the drug development value chain in a common drug repurposing project. It will provide society with easily accessible scientific information and advanced visualisation technologies, strengthening the area of drug repurposing in the SUDOE space.
