I-ReWater | Day in Occitanie, France

Jornada I-ReWater en Occitanie, Francia

On Tuesday 7 October, Inrae, one of the two I-ReWater partners in France, took part in a consortium meeting for the TARGET project, together with the sister projects Rur’eaux and Sollagua, and visited the Gruissan vineyard pilot site. The visit allowed the TARGET partners to tour the pilot facilities, see first-hand how the proposed solutions were being implemented, and exchange ideas with the Grand Narbonne Water Service and irrigators.

The day began with a welcome from Amélie Bresson, TARGET project leader, and Laurence Burgaud, deputy director of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole. After the opening, the workshops were divided into two sessions. The first consisted of three round tables with TARGET project partners and the second, scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., included three other round tables on SUDOE projects, including one with Inrae, a partner of I-ReWater. The presentation was given by Nicolas Saurin, who presented the work in progress on the socio-economic study.

The day ended with a visit to Narbonne-Plage, where the municipal WWTP was toured and Nicolas Lafont, from the Grand Narbonne Water Service, explained the tertiary treatment for the production of reclaimed water. Nicolas Saurin explained how this resource was being used in irrigated agriculture. A winegrower also shared his experience.

One of the important tasks at I-ReWater is to improve general knowledge about reclaimed water by promoting the exchange of information between all stakeholders. In this sense, the day provided an opportunity for sister projects to share progress and reflections.
