WHERE DO WE STAND?

The STOP IATRO project aims to raise awareness and train healthcare professionals to better prevent the risks of medicine abuse.

It also targets the general public, in particular elderly people living at home, who benefit from awareness-raising and information sessions on the appropriate use of medicines.

Based on the recommendations of the World Health Organisation, STOP IATRO implements collaborative strategies to improve care for elderly patients and limit complications associated with care.

Iatrogenesis, i.e. the harmful consequences of medical care on patients, is still too little known and represents a major public health problem.
The elderly are particularly vulnerable to adverse drug reactions, which can lead to a loss of independence.

Since September 2024, the STOP IATRO project has continued to advance its mission to raise awareness of medicines-related harm.
Thanks to the involvement of its partners and healthcare professionals, several important initiatives have been launched to improve the prevention of adverse drug reactions in older people.

Evaluation meeting with the Interreg Sudoe programme

A first evaluation meeting was held with the joint secretariat. Discussions confirmed the need to strengthen collaboration between professionals and to prevent iatrogenic disorders in order to limit the risks associated with medication.
The next co-piloting meeting between the partners will be held on 25-26 September 2025 in Toulouse. This meeting will provide an opportunity to review the progress of the project and plan the final phase of STOP IATRO actions.
