Mark your calendar! Take part in the activities organised by Sudoe projects during European Green Week

The European Green Week is an annual event organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for the Environment. The 2025 edition focuses on the so-called “three Cs”: Clean, Competitive, and Circular. Its main objective is to explore how the circular economy can serve as a cornerstone of Europe’s economic transition—promoting sustainability, minimizing waste generation, enhancing strategic autonomy, and driving innovation.

In addition to the official programme, a variety of complementary events will take place across the European Union throughout June. Led by diverse stakeholders, these initiatives delve into different aspects of the circular economy, enriching the dialogue around this cross-cutting issue.

In this context, several Sudoe projects will offer field activities that are open to the public.

Learn how to transform agricultural waste into resources

The Sudoe projecto NEWPOWER  will contribute to European Green Week by hosting the event “A Day of Science with NEWPOWER”, scheduled for 12 June in Lleida (Spain). This immersive experience, open to the general public, will focus on the recovery of agricultural waste. Through guided lab tours, hands-on analyses, and a showcase of real products, participants will learn how branches, flowers, and leaves can be transformed into useful compounds for the food, health, and cosmetics sectors—highlighting the power of science and sustainability in the circular bioeconomy.

Circular solutions born from Interreg cooperation

For its part, the European Interact programme  has contributed to the European Green Week by hosting a seminar entitled ” Circular Solutions powered by Cooperation: Interreg’s Role in Building a Competitive and Sustainable Europe“.

This webinar was part of a broader series of meetings organized by Interreg to facilitate knowledge exchange around the European Union’s Policy Objectives.

The session was attended by the Sudoe FASHION FORWARD project, which tackles the challenges faced by the textile and fashion industry in the EU in light of the European Green Deal. The project focuses on promoting more sustainable and circular management of textile waste.

Its presentation highlighted the added value of territorial cooperation and underscored the importance of building a cleaner, more competitive, and sustainable economy through real-world examples.
