GestEAUr Project: Towards More Resilient Water Management in Rural Areas
With the GestEAUr project, we aim to improve water management in rural areas of the SUDOE region (France, Spain, and Portugal) to increase water resilience in the context of climate change. Our main goal is to implement effective strategies that ensure access to quality water and strengthen the sustainability of these resources.
What do we aim to achieve with GestEAUr?
- Create a comprehensive water management strategy that is:
-
- Efficient and cost-effective
- Adapted to local needs
- Sustainable and aligned with environmental regulations
- Implement pilot projects that optimize:
- Water purification in remote areas
- Treatment and reuse systems in rural areas
- Support water resilience in five key regions of the SUDOE, contributing to the development of more sustainable rural communities.
How will we do it?
- We will design a joint strategy that brings together innovative solutions for water management, based on the specific needs of each region.
- Develop five regional action plans that will turn the strategy into concrete, customized actions for each area of study.
- Implement three pilot tests in strategic locations across the three participating countries, where we will test water purification, treatment, and reuse technologies.
- Create the digital tool SID_AQUARURAL, which, through artificial intelligence, will enable real-time management and monitoring of water quality and quantity, supporting decision-making at every stage of the water cycle.
Through the GestEAUr project, we will help rural regions of the SUDOE face the challenges of climate change, improving the sustainability and efficiency of water resources and promoting a more resilient future for all.
