We are pleased to announce a new session of our RePo-Webinars, the online seminar series focused on drug repurposing, part of the RePo-SUDOE project. In each webinar, we explore various methods and software tools applied to drug repositioning, always with top-level experts.
🎤 Special Session: Carlos Loucera & Andrés Aldana
In this special edition, we will host two consecutive presentations showcasing different Python tools developed for drug repurposing:
🔹 Carlos Loucera, PhD in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Cantabria, is currently a postdoctoral researcher in interpretable machine learning for systems biology at the Andalusian Platform for Computational Medicine, where he leads the Data Science group for the real-world evidence infrastructure (iRWD). He will present: “DREXML: Addressing Data Scarcity with Machine Learning Insights for Rare Disease Therapeutic Target Discovery”, a session focused on how machine learning can address data scarcity to accelerate the discovery of new therapeutic targets in rare diseases.
🔹 Andrés Aldana, postdoctoral researcher at the Barabási Lab at Northeastern University, in collaboration with Harvard Medical School, will present: “NetMedPy: A Network-Based Python Package for Drug Repurposing”, a highly efficient and versatile Python package developed to perform advanced analyses in Network Medicine — a field that applies network science principles to study complex biological systems and assess how diseases affect communication within the interactome.
