On 17 July 2025, the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) will organise an awareness day and open house at the almond pilot project in Alfândega da Fé, Portugal, to showcase the work they are doing to study the use of reclaimed water in this crop. The event will take place at the Municipal Auditorium, Casa da Cultura Mestre José Rodrigues.
Programme
The day will begin with speeches by the Mayor of Alfândega da Fé and the President of the Alfândega da Fé Agricultural Cooperative. This will be followed by presentations on good practices for efficient water use in agriculture, the valorisation of the hydro-agricultural potential of Trás-os-Montes and the reuse of water in agriculture, in collaboration with the pilot’s technology partner, Águas do Norte, and a debate with the attendees.
After an update on the progress of the I-Rewater project, the day will conclude with a visit to the experimental pilot in Alfândega da Fé.
