The challenge addressed is to achieve a socially cohesive and territorially balanced SUDOE area, through the development of a green and social economy in aging and depopulated rural communities. An integrated approach is implemented to foster economic development based on innovation adapted to territorial resources and environmentally friendly activities. The EVA+ project seeks to leverage the multifunctional management of agroforestry areas and develop a collaborative and innovative approach to green entrepreneurship, encompassing vulnerable rural communities or those undergoing demographic and economic transition. Implemented in a territory rich in natural resources, the project focuses on productive activities in the agroforestry sector to increase economic opportunities, improve the labor market, job quality, and social inclusion. To achieve these objectives, it will rely on knowledge transfer and the development of business capacities, in addition to defining strategies aimed at sustainability and innovation in rural economies. The main actions include diagnosis, creation of micro-training courses, an advisory program, and a transnational strategic plan. The methodology includes the implementation of 3 Living Labs with value chain actors. The pilot cases will provide insight into the interaction between people, rural communities, and green entrepreneurship, serving as living laboratories. EVA+ offers an innovative social approach with the development of pilots, the generation of support studies, and the transmission of knowledge on Social Economy in the field of Green Employment. The results will focus on fostering entrepreneurship and developing business models that leverage agroforestry resources, promoting associationism and cooperativism for the organization of producers. The beneficiaries will be rural actors and communities interested in the creation of (self-)employment linked to endogenous development, based on environmentally appropriate productive practices, in tune with the transition towards the social and green economy.
