Transnational measurement campaign across the entire SUDOE region

Summary

Description

This project outlines an unprecedented, large-scale measurement campaign across the entire SUDOE region, designed to address all facets of the wildfire problem. Its core objective is to enhance SUDOE’s potential for excellence in understanding, monitoring, preventing, combating, and managing wildfire-related risks.

The implementation of this measurement campaign will hinge on establishing a network of transnational collaborations. This network will bring together operational services, research teams, and public operators, fostering the exchange of complementary technologies and knowledge for the benefit of all involved parties.

Furthermore, the project directly responds to the needs of regional authorities responsible for biodiversity protection, fire suppression coordination, and monitoring population exposure to air pollution. These authorities require key information on meteorological wildfire danger, fire spread, and its impact on air quality to minimize negative environmental, health, material, economic, and social consequences.
