Description

Defining the TupART Transnational Strategy
Starting with an initial in-person technical-political kick-off meeting for the project (where governance rules of operation and technical-administrative management will be set, and a TECHNICAL COMMITTEE will be established), and continuing with the holding of two workshops to define the common strategy to be adopted, the aim is that, within the first 6 months of project implementation, the transnational strategy will be defined and adopted by all beneficiaries. This strategy will be supported by the experience previously developed in the EUPAL Cooperation Protocol (https://eupal.prehistour.eu/).

Workshops:

WSh1 (2 sessions of 8 hours):

Session 1: Protection and conservation of rock art destinations open to the public, both within the geographical scope of the future TupART Tourism Product Club (CPT) and at a European scale.

Session 2: Best practices for tourism management in archaeological areas in relation to sustainable tourism practices emanating from the World Tourism Organization, the Council of Europe, and the European Union. This session will generate the Manual of Good Practices and the Safeguarding and Emergency Guide for Rock Art Destinations.

WSh2 (3 sessions of 4 hours) focusing on the following aspects:

1. Definition of the “TupART” tourism product.

2. Quality of rock art destinations: definition and evaluation (generation of a quality seal).

3. Sustainable internationalization of a fragile tourism offer.
This session will draft the bases and regulations for the creation of the CPT and the CPT’s destination evaluation/certification manual.

First-tier speakers from the UNTWO, the Council of Europe’s Cultural Routes Program, the European Commission’s Transport and Tourism Commissioner, universities, and companies will be invited. Furthermore, the technical-administrative operating regulations of the CPT will be corrected and approved, the roles of each partner (and associated entities) will be clearly defined, and the overall project implementation strategy will be established.
