New project calls 2026: final programming phase

Following the success of the first two project calls which enabled the selection and financing of 76 projects (representing 89% of the available ERDF envelope), the Sudoe programme will launch a final programming phase with several distinct project calls in 2026, adopting a differentiated strategic approach.

Strategic projects” call

This call will target large-scale projects with significant territorial impact, limited to two priority specific objectives:

SO 2.4 – Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention and resilience, taking into account ecosystem-based approaches

  • Exclusive focus: fire risk prevention and management
  • ERDF allocation: maximum 5.8 million euros

SO 4.5 – Ensuring equal access to health care and strengthening the resilience of health systems, including primary health care, and promoting the transition from institutional to family and community-based care

  • Exclusive focus: challenges of population ageing
  • ERDF allocation: maximum 3 million euros

These “strategic” projects will be distinguished from previous ones by the type of activities to be implemented, the expected results and the composition of partnerships.

Priority 4 project call

Priority 4 of the cooperation programme “Strengthening Sudoe’s impact capacities on territories” aims to capitalise on the results of approved projects. Therefore, the types of projects expected will also be different from those programmed during the first and second project calls. The expected activities, expected results and partnerships will need to meet different conditions and criteria.

This project call will be endowed with an ERDF envelope of 5.3 million euros.

Valorisation project calls – reserved for approved projects

Two valorisation project calls will be opened and exclusively reserved for approved projects from the first and second project calls. These calls will aim for the activities undertaken by these valorisation projects to amplify the results of projects with public administrations, bodies, organisations and agencies at local, regional, national or supranational level.

Information concerning the first valorisation call reserved for projects from the first call will be disseminated in June 2026.

In the meantime, you can familiarise yourselves with the main features concerning the characteristics of this project call (document only available in ES, FR, PT).

Timeline and next steps

The programme authorities are currently developing the specific conditions for these calls. Further information will be disseminated before the end of 2025.
