RTL – Rural Transition Labs – CIM do Ave Launches Sensitive Diagnosis on Sustainable Management of Urban Green Spaces

In February and March 2025, CIM do Ave – the Intermunicipal Community of Ave, as the body responsible for the Ave Rural Transition Lab, in collaboration with facilitator Magda Porta, an expert contracted by RURENER (the project’s lead partner), initiated the Territorial Dialogue process by conducting a sensitive diagnosis. Its aim was to understand the perceptions of elected representatives from the sub-region, municipal technicians and socio-economic stakeholders regarding the sustainable management of urban green spaces.

This initiative seeks to promote adaptation strategies grounded in local needs and experiences. To this end, 27 key stakeholders involved in the sustainable management of urban parks were interviewed. CIM do Ave played a pivotal role in carrying out these interviews and providing logistical support to organise the next phase of the Territorial Dialogue process.

The diagnosis gathered a wide range of perspectives on the challenges and opportunities associated with climate change adaptation and the sustainable management of urban green spaces, considering both institutional and technical levels.

This participatory process will comprise two collective meetings, during which the concerns and requirements identified in the diagnosis will be discussed, potential solutions explored and concrete proposals developed to address the consequences of climate change in the region.

The meetings are scheduled for 17 and 18 June.

The conclusions drawn from this process will be incorporated into the Municipal Climate Action Plans and the Intermunicipal Climate Action Pact, currently being drafted by the eight municipalities and CIM do Ave respectively.

This project reinforces the sub-region of Ave’s commitment to a fair, participatory and locally appropriate climate transition.
