Four Locations for the Development of the Pilot Site in Nouvelle-Aquitaine

Summary

As part of this project, Xylofutur aims to establish a pilot zone in Nouvelle-Aquitaine with two innovative entities in the French forestry sector, particularly in the field of wildfire risk management. On the one hand, the project focuses on early fire detection, and on the other, on the post-fire phase, in order to accelerate and strengthen the growth of young plants through the use of biofertilisers. The objective is to promote innovations driven by start-ups that require funding and visibility to consolidate their activities.

Description

PILOT SITE LOCATION

The pilot site in Nouvelle-Aquitaine is deployed across 4 separate locations:

2 locations for forest fire prevention:
• 33620 Cestas
• 33720 Landiras

2 locations for post-forest fire management:
• 33720 Guillos
• 33125 Hostens

DESCRIPTION OF PLANNED ACTIONS

As part of this project, Xylofutur aims to establish a pilot zone in Nouvelle-Aquitaine with two innovative entities in the French forestry sector, particularly in the field of wildfire risk management. On the one hand, the project focuses on early fire detection, and on the other, on the post-fire phase, in order to accelerate and strengthen the growth of young plants through the use of biofertilisers. The objective is to promote innovations driven by start-ups that require funding and visibility to consolidate their activities.

Two companies have been selected to implement these actions:

SYLVIACARE – the start-up responsible for conducting the early forest fire detection experiment:
Within this project, SYLVIACARE proposes to deploy an early detection solution consisting of:
• Four sensors capable of monitoring an area of up to approximately 10 hectares.
• A supervision platform enabling communication with the sensors and reception of alerts.

SYLVIACARE fully meets the three main objectives:
• Detect fire outbreaks as quickly as possible in the protected area (less than 10 minutes).
• Accurately geolocate forest fires.
• Transmit information in real time to previously identified stakeholders: platform alerts, SMS, and emails.

Compared with existing solutions, the solution proposed by SYLVIACARE aims to drastically reduce the duration of the various stages preceding the arrival of emergency services.

ELICIR – the start-up offering an innovation to accelerate and enhance the growth of young trees through the use of biostimulants:
ELICIR develops a 100% plant-based extract derived from a food plant selected for its composition. The resulting biostimulant provides a novel family of signalling molecules that is unique on the market. This technology is protected by several international patents. The products derived from it enhance the plant’s ability to explore its environment and optimise hormonal regulation throughout its growth cycle, regardless of environmental stresses. In addition, they enable plants to control their defence mechanisms against pathogens (fungi, viruses, bacteria). These are natural mechanisms intrinsic to treated plants that are (re)activated, hence the concept of a solution found in nature.

EXPECTED RESULTS OR APPLICATIONS

SYLVIACARE
• Significant reduction in response time between fire outbreak and emergency intervention.
• Improved monitoring of forest areas (up to 10 hectares per installation) through accurate sensors and a centralised platform.
• Operational validation of the innovative solution compared to existing systems, supported by concrete data on speed, reliability and real-time communication capabilities.
• Enhanced prevention potential and limitation of forest damage through ultra-fast and highly precise detection.

ELICIR
• Improved vigour and growth of treated trees thanks to the unique signalling molecules of the biostimulant.
• Increased resilience of young plants to abiotic stresses (drought, temperature, etc.).
• Natural activation of defence mechanisms against fungi, viruses and bacteria, without the use of external chemical products.
• Generation of experimental data to demonstrate product effectiveness and support commercial development and patent protection.
