Aqualia Portugal presented the GestEAUr project at the 6th annual EcoSchools Seminar held at the Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração de Lisboa, on the occasion of World Water Day.
During the event, the Aqualia Portugal team presented part of the work carried out within the framework of the project, focusing on the development of innovative solutions for water reuse. In particular, the progress of the pilot project currently being developed in Cartaxo was shared, focusing on wetlands and ultrafiltration for the treatment and direct reuse of wastewater with suitable quality for reuse.
Specifically, the pilot project will work on the implementation of innovative electrostimulated wetlands, followed by an ultrafiltration (UF) unit, enabling the regeneration of wastewater with a quality compatible with current legislation for direct reuse, either for irrigation or street cleaning, depending on local needs. The project is currently in the site preparation phase at the wastewater treatment plant, while procurement of the remaining equipment is being finalised.
In addition, over the coming weeks, together with Aqualia Spain and Águas do Tejo Atlântico (AdTA), progress is expected on the commissioning of the ultrafiltration unit in Torres Vedras.
Participation in this type of event strengthens the visibility of GestEAUr and helps bring innovative sustainable water management solutions closer to academic and professional environments, fostering knowledge exchange and raising awareness of current water-related challenges.
