Last week, the Summer School on Industrial Surface Treatments for Corrosion Protection took place at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) במסגרת the European RESINSURF project. This training event gathered students, early-career engineers, and industry professionals interested in the latest developments in protective coatings and surface treatment technologies.

Over five days, the programme combined theoretical sessions with hands-on laboratory activities, providing a comprehensive learning experience. This approach enabled participants to discuss the state of the art in corrosion protection and explore innovative solutions aimed at safer and more environmentally friendly industrial processes.

The excellent organisation of the event, led by the University of Aveiro together with CICECO and DEMaC, is particularly noteworthy. The contribution of the partner organisations of the RESINSURF project is also acknowledged: CIDETEC Surface Engineering (project coordinator), Chrome Dur Industriel, TITANIA, ADERA-UT2A, IPREM from the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (UPPA), and Smallmatek), as well as the University of Cádiz as an associated entity.

This type of initiative strengthens international collaboration and accelerates knowledge transfer, contributing to the development of a more competitive and sustainable industry.

RESINSURF is a European project that promotes the development and validation of sustainable surface treatments as an alternative to hexavalent chromium, fostering knowledge transfer between research centres and industry across the SUDOE area.

This project is co-funded by INTERREG SUDOE, a European cooperation programme that supports transnational projects addressing common challenges in Southwestern Europe, promoting innovation, sustainability, and balanced regional development.
