In May 2026, the RURAL TRANSITION LABS project launched its Collaborative GIS Viewer, a new digital platform designed to facilitate access, visualization and sharing of territorial information related to the project’s pilot territories.
Developed to be intuitive, accessible and easy to use, the platform enables users — regardless of their previous experience with Geographic Information Systems — to explore relevant territorial data, follow ongoing interventions and gain insight into the solutions being tested within the framework of the project.
Beyond data consultation, the platform includes a collaborative component, allowing users to contribute information, observations and local knowledge, supporting the continuous enrichment and updating of available content.
Access to the platform is free and open, requiring no prior registration, subject only to acceptance of the terms of use to ensure responsible engagement with the tool.
Available in several languages, the Viewer has been designed to respond to the specificities of the territories involved, helping to disseminate project results and bringing citizens, researchers, practitioners and local stakeholders closer to rural transition processes.
Tutorial videos in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English are also available, providing guidance on the platform’s main features and navigation tools.
