The Municipality of Caldes de Montbui and the thermal operators Grup Termes Victòria and Grup Broquetas have signed a new agreement to improve the management and distribution of thermal and mineral-medicinal water in the municipality. The initiative represents an important step towards ensuring the sustainable use and long-term preservation of one of the town’s most valuable natural resources.
Caldes de Montbui is internationally known for its thermal heritage and its thermal waters, which play a key role in the local economy, tourism and public services. The new agreement establishes a coordinated framework for the management of water resources from the common thermal well, defining the responsibilities of each operator and establishing water distribution arrangements.
The agreement also guarantees social and public uses of thermal water, ensuring supply to public thermal fountains and essential services such as the Santa Susanna Foundation Residence. To support transparent and effective coordination, a joint management committee will oversee implementation, monitor water use and facilitate collaborative decision-making.

This initiative is aligned with the objectives of the European ThermEcoWat project, which aims to improve resilience and sustainable management of thermal territories in the context of climate change. Hydrogeological studies and monitoring activities developed through the project have contributed to strengthening knowledge and supporting evidence-based management decisions.
By promoting cooperation between local authorities and thermal stakeholders, Caldes de Montbui reinforces its commitment to protecting thermal resources and ensuring their availability for future generations.
