On September 30, the Union of Cooperatives of the Region of Murcia (Ucomur), in collaboration with the Directorate General for Self-Employment and the Social Economy, organized the first Social Economy and Rural Entrepreneurship Fair of the Region of Murcia. Held as part of the Interreg Sudoe ResilientES project, the event aimed to introduce rural residents to the various options and opportunities for entrepreneurship within the social economy sector.

With nearly thirty exhibitors and around 300 attendees, the fair served as a meeting point for entrepreneurs and stakeholders linked to rural areas in the Region of Murcia. The event brought together business organizations, educational institutions, and companies to highlight the social economy’s contribution to rural development, emphasizing its capacity to generate economic activity, combat depopulation, and encourage residents to remain in the area.

The fair’s program featured various talks and workshops, as well as presentations on success stories from cooperatives and social economy enterprises that are leaders in their respective sectors and deeply committed to rural development.
