From 2 to 4 November, ten organisations from Spain, France, Portugal and Andorra will come together as part of the European INTERREG SUDOE ALIS project to share experiences and explore new avenues for social inclusion through outdoor sports

From 2 to 4 November 2026, Valencia will host an international meeting of the INTERREG SUDOE ALIS (Local Social Innovation Adventure), a European initiative funded by the Interreg Sudoe programme and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which aims to improve employment opportunities and social inclusion for vulnerable young people, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas.

The event will bring together representatives from the ten partners making up the transnational consortium from Spain, France, Portugal and Andorra, led by the Centre for Resources, Expertise and Sporting Performance (CREPS) in Montpellier/Font-Romeu. During the working sessions, the results of the pilot programmes carried out in the various participating territories will be analysed, experiences and best practices will be shared, and the next phases of the project’s implementation will be defined.

Sport as a tool for creating opportunities

The ALIS project aims to promote social innovation through experiential methodologies based on outdoor sports, which are seen as tools for personal development, social integration, wellbeing and improving employment opportunities for the most vulnerable young people. Running for 36 months, from June 2025 to May 2028, the initiative has a total budget of 1,125,000 euros.

Three days of work and European exchange

The meeting’s agenda will begin on Monday 2 November with a welcome meeting between the project partners. On Tuesday 3 November, the main working day will take place at the Faculty of Education of the Catholic University of Valencia, on the Edetania Campus (Godella), where various technical sessions, coordination meetings and knowledge-sharing activities will be held. The day will also include an experiential activity led by Terapia Aventura, a member organisation of the consortium. Finally, on Wednesday 4 November, the closing session will be held and the project’s next strategic actions will be defined.

This meeting marks a significant milestone in the development of ALIS, as it helps to strengthen transnational cooperation between European organisations committed to social inclusion, youth and sustainable territorial development. The results and lessons learnt during the project will also be used to formulate recommendations for public authorities and social partners, thereby promoting the transfer and replicability of the initiatives developed in the Sudoe region.
