RePo-SUDOE celebrates its first Kick-Off

The Kick-off of RePo-SUDOE, a pioneering project that has brought together partners from different regions of the SUDOE area (Spain, France and Portugal) and from different areas of the drug development value chain, took place on 5 April. This first meeting, held virtually, marked the formal start of the collaboration between the participating entities, focused on the development of advanced technologies for drug repurposing.

One of the central themes of the meeting was the definition of the project’s communication plan, an essential component to ensure that the objectives of RePo-SUDOE are widely known and understood both within the consortium and externally. The communication plan has several key objectives:

  1. Project dissemination: Increase the visibility of RePo-SUDOE in the SUDOE region and beyond, highlighting its contribution to the advancement of drug repurposing.
  2. Strengthening internal cooperation: Facilitating communication between partners to ensure efficient collaboration aligned with project objectives.
  3. Attracting resources and talent: Attracting researchers, companies and key talent interested in the innovations developed by the project.

The plan identifies various target audiences, including consortium members, the scientific and academic community, the biopharmaceutical industry, public authorities, and the general public interested in health innovation. To reach these audiences, multiple communication channels will be used, such as newsletters, social media (LinkedIn, X and Facebook), press releases, and participation in industry conferences and events. In addition to the web platform that centralises all relevant information on the progress of the project.

Another crucial point of the Kick-off was the structuring of the different working groups that will lead the different areas of the project. These groups were organised around strategic axes such as research and development of new technologies for drug repurposing, pre-clinical and clinical validation of compounds, technology transfer and exploitation of the results obtained. Each group is composed of experts from different disciplines and SUDOE regions, ensuring a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach.

The RePo-SUDOE project aims to develop and disseminate innovative technologies for drug repurposing, with the objective of increasing the competitiveness of the SUDOE region in the field of biopharmaceutical research and development (R&D). This initiative aims not only to accelerate innovation in the discovery of new uses for existing drugs, but also to strengthen the regional biopharmaceutical industry, attracting qualified talent and generating new business opportunities.

The Kick-off of the project was a significant milestone, bringing together for the first time partners from different areas of the drug development value chain in a common effort to advance drug repurposing. The synergy between the different entities promises to strengthen the innovation capacity of the SUDOE area, positioning it as a benchmark in biomedical research and the development of new therapies.
