On January 9th, representatives from CIDETEC and ADERA-UT2A visited the facilities of Chrome Dur Industriel in Angoulême, France. This technical meeting aimed to evaluate the progress in the development of Pilot 1 of the RESINSURF project and plan the next steps.
Chrome Dur Industriel, a member of the RESINSURF consortium, is a leader in hard chrome coating applications. The company specializes in treating complex-shaped parts, offering solutions that enhance component durability by renewing chrome deposits. The company has implemented a facility for the deposition of hard chrome using trivalent chromium, moving toward more sustainable and EU-compliant processes.
The visit included discussions with ADERA-UT2A, partners in the process of joining the RESINSURF consortium, who are already collaborating with some members in other projects. The development of bath control techniques by ADERA-UT2A and the validation of optimal solutions using real parts at Chrome Dur Industriel’s facilities were addressed.
Pilot 1 of the RESINSURF project aims to develop processes without hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) for hard chrome electrodeposition, eliminating the use of this compound and reducing associated environmental and health risks. CIDETEC, as the project coordinator, plays a key role in implementing and transferring solutions to partners like Chrome Dur Industriel.
