RePo-SUDOE participates in the 10th Edition of the Biophysics Week with conferences and immersive virtual reality experiences

The 10th Edition of Biophysics Week saw the participation of the RePo-SUDOE project, which joined the initiative with activities focused on scientific outreach and the promotion of open science. Through conferences, roundtable discussions, and interactive experiences, the event aimed to bring Biophysics closer to the academic community and spark interest in this growing field.

As part of the program, the Portuguese Society of Biophysics organized a conference followed by a roundtable, both of which were streamed online. These sessions formed part of the closing event for the “A Rare Glimpse” exhibition, which was open to the public at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences from March 24 to 28. The exhibition provided various perspectives on Biophysics research and its impact on understanding biological processes.

In addition to the online transmission of these events in the auditorium of the School of Technology and Management (ESTG) of the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda, RePo-SUDOE carried out a scientific outreach activity centered on molecular visualization. Using virtual reality technology, participants were able to explore 3D representations of biomolecular structures, providing an immersive experience that helped them grasp complex scientific concepts.

RePo-SUDOE’s participation in Biophysics Week reinforces its commitment to the democratization of scientific knowledge. Through these activities, the project contributes to the dissemination of Biophysics and fosters closer ties between the academic community and researchers, promoting greater interest in science and innovation in this field.
