Through this project, the partners will test mobile biochar production equipment in the laboratory and in the field, in order to optimize their design and operation. The objective is to make biochar production as efficient as possible, minimizing environmental impact and maximizing the quality of the produced biochar in relation to its intended uses. At the end of the experiment, specifications for the construction of optimized equipment will be developed and disseminated. The equipment will be tested under real conditions in the three target regions of the project (Occitania, Galicia, Alentejo) and in different contexts within each region (cooperative wineries, distilleries, winegrower associations, agricultural equipment cooperatives, agricultural work companies, etc.). The goal will be to cover a variety of use conditions, in order to analyze the advantages and disadvantages, and the production costs of biochar. Through these pilot actions, the approach will be made known to a large number of stakeholders. The objective of this phase of the project is to demonstrate that biochar production with this type of equipment can be economically viable.
