Based on the information obtained in activities 1.1 and 1.2, pilot areas will be implemented in selected hardwood stands within the SUDOE region. These areas will act as demonstration “showcases” where the recommended sustainable management principles and methods will be concretely applied. The results obtained including improved forest health, reduced risks associated with fires, pests, and diseases, as well as the economic valorization of timber resources will be monitored and documented. This information will serve to reinforce the replicability of the presented solutions, encouraging other forest owners and managers to adopt similar models and thus contributing to territorial cohesion and resilience. This project will be carried out by partners ISA, Baskegur, and the Municipality of Sertã, building on the contributions and results generated during WG1. Three different pilot areas will be considered, with possible actions in mixed stands, wasteland, and monoculture stands. It will be communicated to the target audience at events attended by consortium partners, as well as through the project’s digital communication channels. A planting will be carried out in national territory (PT), involving society (community, public, and business organizations) to promote the valorization of hardwood forests. This action aims to raise public awareness about the importance of having a healthy ecosystem, as well as the environmental, social, and economic benefits associated with hardwood forests. This will foster continued participation in forestry activities and the preservation of natural values. The planting will be established with the aim of promoting the project’s results in the territory in the future, creating appropriate conditions for its visibility.
