Summary

The ThermEcoWat project is part of an ambitious transnational initiative. The three planned socio-economic analyses have already been delivered. The goal is to define a common strategy, adopted at the project partner level. Each organization will then be able to adapt it to its local context, while respecting the core principles defined collectively.

Description

The ThermEcoWat project aims to:

  • Develop a common strategy to enhance the resilience of thermal regions to climate change in Southern Europe and beyond, through the sustainable use of thermal springs and their energy potential.

  • Create a shared knowledge base on the management of thermal resources, energy, infrastructure, and climate change adaptation. This database will facilitate the exchange of best practices and knowledge among partners.

  • Develop a toolbox to support local authorities and thermal operators in creating action plans for climate change adaptation.

  • Implement targeted social analyses and collaborative governance tools during the deployment of three pilot cases (one per country) to test and demonstrate innovative solutions for the sustainable management of thermal springs.

  • Develop specific action plans for each pilot site, based on climate scenarios and local needs. These plans will include measures for energy efficiency, sustainable reuse of thermal water, and other adaptation strategies.
