Instituto Superior Técnico and Águas do Tejo Atlântico presented the SOLLAGUA project at the 11th International Symposium on Wetland Pollutant Dynamics and Control (WETPOL 2025), held from 8 to 11 September in Gdańsk, Poland.
The Portuguese partners Instituto Superior Técnico and Águas do Tejo Atlântico presented the SOLLAGUA project at the 11th International Symposium on Wetland Pollutant Dynamics and Control (WETPOL 2025), held from 8 to 11 September in Gdańsk, Poland.
During the event, which brought together water management experts and professionals from across the globe, the Portuguese partners showcased an interactive poster outlining the mission, vision, objectives and methodology of the initiative. The poster also introduced the NB-WoLLs (nature-based water-oriented living labs) strategy, developed within the framework of SOLLAGUA to foster open innovation and collaboration among academia, public authorities, industry and civil society, with the aim of promoting sustainable and viable solutions for the reuse of this vital resource.
Key highlights of the dissemination stand included: a presentation of the project’s beneficiaries, objectives and task groups; a summary of the outcomes of two workshops that identified the needs, barriers and opportunities for water reuse through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in Portugal, Spain and France; the scheme for the forthcoming Portuguese demo site; and an overview of the project’s expected results.
The symposium also gave rise to enriching debates among organisations from different fields on how to link water reuse — traditionally not associated with NBS — to a four-helix approach that brings together all actors in the sector.
