The TARGET Project team continues to make strides towards water sustainability! 💧

On March 25th and 26th, we gathered in Barreiro, Portugal, for two intensive days of work focused on promoting and improving water reuse. During this in-person meeting, we shared valuable lessons learned and continued to build the path to follow.

We dedicated the first day to reviewing the success of various demonstration actions, addressing innovations in the treatment of emerging contaminants, opportunity studies in wastewater treatment plants, and the implementation of nature-based solutions with continuous monitoring. Additionally, we delved into discussing how to transfer our model to other territories, and examining economic models that showcase the positive impacts of water reuse.

The second day kicked off with a highly enriching workshop where we put all this theory into context, showcasing the local and regional strategies of our partners. We got a closer look at local measures to prevent water scarcity in Barreiro, the experience obtained in Granollers using reclaimed water, and the practical application of our project in the Dordogne basin.

To put the perfect finishing touch on our meeting in Portugal, we took a technical tour of the Barreiro-Moita wastewater treatment plant. There, guided by SIMARSUL, S.A., we were able to see firsthand the facilities that make all of this possible!

A huge thank you to CĂąmara Municipal do Barreiro and FCT NOVA for organizing such an incredible event, to everyone that came to the event and thanks as well to all the partners!: Cerema, EPIDOR – EPTB Dordogne, Ecofilae, Le Grand PĂ©rigueux, Universitat PolitĂšcnica de Catalunya (UPC), Ajuntament de Granollers, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, AMAyA, FSVA (Fabienne Sans) / Kaizen-Eureka S.L.
