The European project GestEAUr (Sustainable Urban Water Management in Rural Areas), funded by the Interreg Sudoe programme, was presented on April 22 in Salamanca during the meeting of the 1st Community of Practice for Circular Cities, organized within the framework of the European project United Circles.

The event, held at the International Spanish Language Center (CIE-USAL), brought together institutional representatives, companies, and European organizations with the aim of promoting circular economy initiatives in urban environments and fostering synergies between sectors in which waste or by-products can be transformed into resources.

In this context, Ángel Encinas, Project Manager of the Innovation and Technology Department at Aqualia, and José Luis Molina, Professor of Hydraulic Engineering at the University of Salamanca, took part in the event to present the progress and objectives of the GestEAUr project, which focuses on improving efficiency, water quality, and the governance of water resources in rural areas across the SUDOE region.

The event also featured institutional representatives such as the Mayor of Salamanca, Carlos García Carbayo; Olympic champion Theresa Zabell, a pioneer in marine environmental protection; and experts in sustainability and the circular economy.

GestEAUr’s participation in this international forum highlights the project’s role in developing sustainable and cost-effective solutions for water management, contributing to the advancement of more efficient and resilient models throughout the SUDOE territory.
