ADRAT, the Alto Tâmega Region Development Association, organized the Alto Tâmega and Barroso Social Economy Fair on May 21st. The event took place at the facilities of the Chaves School of Hotel and Well-being (EHB) and featured several exhibitors, where various Social Economy institutions, namely cooperatives and associations, as well as local projects and initiatives, were able to showcase the work they develop for the benefit of the community and the sustainable development of the territory.

Alongside the exhibitors’ showcase, the Fair presented a dynamic program focused on knowledge sharing and employability, which included the seminar “Social Economy and Employment – Challenges and Opportunities”: a central space for debate where experts and leaders addressed the crucial role of social institutions in creating jobs and retaining population in inland regions. The Professional Career Development Workshops: Dynamic sessions specifically designed for students and the unemployed, aiming to provide practical guidance tools and enhance entry into the job market. And the presentation of Best Practices: A moment dedicated to sharing successful cases of Social Economy and job creation already implemented in the region, serving as inspiration for future projects and strategic partnerships.

The Alto Tâmega and Barroso Social Economy Fair reinforced the importance of cooperation between higher education institutions, development associations, and the social fabric to create effective responses to the region’s demographic and economic challenges.

This event is organized within the framework of the ResilientES project – Social economy, engine of socio-economic development of inland and non-urban areas in SUDOE – funded by European funds (INTERREG SUDOE Program).
