The European project RePo-SUDOE participated on May 22 in the Annual Meeting of the European Association of Pharmacy Technicians (EAPT), held at the headquarters of the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare in Strasbourg.
During the meeting, the RePo-SUDOE project, its objectives and the context in which it develops its activity within the SUDOE area were presented. The intervention focused on the project’s contribution to promoting drug repurposing as a strategy to identify new therapeutic uses for existing medicines.
The presentation also included an introduction to the concept of drug repurposing and its main advantages in the biomedical and pharmaceutical field. Among the highlighted aspects were the possibility of reducing the times and costs associated with the development of new medicines, optimising the existing knowledge about approved drugs and accelerating patients’ access to new therapeutic alternatives.
The session included representatives from 16 European countries, consolidating itself as an opportunity to increase the international visibility of the project and promote knowledge exchange with professionals linked to the field of pharmacy and healthcare in Europe.
