On 18 June, the Instituto Murciano de Investigación y Desarrollo Agrario y Medioambiental (IMIDA) hosted a workshop dedicated to the presentation of innovative projects aimed at promoting sustainability and digitalisation in the agri-food sector.
During the event, participants were introduced to the activities currently being carried out within the e-Rigation project, focusing on the design and validation of virtual weather stations, the integration of data from agroclimatic networks, field-deployed sensors and satellite information, as well as their application to improve irrigation management in pilot plots.
The presentation provided an opportunity to showcase the work carried out so far at different trial sites, where new tools are being evaluated to support irrigation decision-making and promote a more efficient use of water resources.
Among the initiatives presented during the workshop, e-Rigation and An-Gel stood out as two projects that rely on technological innovation to address some of the key challenges currently facing agriculture.
These types of events provide a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, exchange experiences and strengthen collaboration among research centres, public administrations and stakeholders from the agri-food sector, helping to accelerate the transfer of innovative solutions to the field.
