On 18 June, the Instituto Murciano de Investigación y Desarrollo Agrario y Medioambiental (IMIDA) hosted an event dedicated to presenting innovative projects aimed at promoting sustainability and digitalisation in the agri-food sector.
During the event, participants were introduced to the activities being carried out within the An-Gel Sudoe project, which focuses on analysing and assessing frost risk through statistical tools and spatial models designed to support decision-making in agriculture.
The presentation highlighted the work undertaken to develop frost risk assessment applications, analyse the thermal suitability of different crops and generate models capable of estimating minimum temperatures at a territorial scale. These tools are intended to provide farmers and agricultural technicians with valuable information to support planning and reduce the impact of frost events on crops.
Future developments of the project were also presented, including the expansion of the biological database, the integration of tools into web platforms and the incorporation of additional climate parameters to enhance analysis and decision-support capabilities.
Among the initiatives showcased during the event, An-Gel Sudoe and e-Rigation stood out as two projects demonstrating how technological innovation can help address some of the key challenges facing agriculture in a context of climate variability and sustainable resource management.
Events such as this provide a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, exchange experiences and strengthen collaboration among research centres, public authorities and agri-food stakeholders, helping to accelerate the transfer of innovative solutions to the field.
