AIDA CCI held the workshop “Fundamentals of Ecodesign and the Circular Economy” on 25 September, an initiative organised within the framework of the REMAIN project that brought together companies, professionals and experts to reflect on the challenges and opportunities associated with the transition towards more sustainable and circular production models.
The session focused on topics such as ecodesign, the circular economy, the efficient use of resources and the need to rethink current production models. Among the different topics addressed, remanufacturing stood out as an opportunity that, according to the experts, should be further explored in sectors with significant industrial activity, such as footwear, textiles and furniture.
The programme featured contributions from Inês Vicente, Vice-President and Coordinator of the Textile Area at Circular Economy Portugal (CEP), who discussed the application of circular economy principles to the textile sector, and Pedro Martins, Founder and CEO of LARUS Design, who shared his experience in urban ecodesign. INESCOP also presented the REMAIN project, which is based on the concept of remanufacturing as a key pillar in the transition towards a more circular industry. This was followed by a discussion and exchange of views among the participants.
The initiative helped reinforce the importance of innovation and the adoption of circularity strategies as key drivers for transforming production processes, contributing to a more efficient use of resources and a reduction in waste.
