I-ReWater closing event in Évora (Portugal) on 17 November

I-ReWater _ Jornada de cierre en Évora - Portugal

Under the title “Reclaimed water in agriculture in the SUDOE area: what does the future hold?”, the sixteen partners of the I-ReWater project will meet in Évora (Portugal) on Tuesday, 17 November, to present the main results of three years of research and reflect on the challenges and opportunities associated with the use of reclaimed water in agriculture. The event will be hosted by the Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária, IP (INIAV, IP), together with the project coordinator, PROePLA – Proxectos e Planificación (GI-1716) – Campus Terra (USC).

The event will bring together experts, policymakers, water management bodies, agricultural sector organisations, researchers and institutional representatives from Portugal, Spain, France and Andorra, providing a space for dialogue and cooperation on the future of water reuse in agriculture across the Sudoe area.

Sixth team meeting
The following day, Wednesday 18, the consortium will remain in Évora to hold its sixth in-person team meeting, which will include a mid-morning visit to INIAV’s experimental trial at Herdade do Esporão, followed by a wine tasting. In Portugal, four of the 15 I-ReWater project trials are being carried out on olive trees, almond trees and vineyards to analyse the impact of using reclaimed water on crops. The two vineyard trials are managed by colleagues from INIAV (Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária) and are located at Herdade do Esporão and Monte da Ravasqueira, in the Alentejo region, in the south of the country.

The first in-person I-ReWater team meeting took place in Lugo in 2024, coinciding with the kick-off meeting; the second was held in Montpellier, the third between Vila Real and Mirandela (Portugal), the fourth in Agen (France), and the fifth in Madrid (Spain) last June.
