Desert Leaves Foundation is a Spanish non-profit that restores forests in drylands and fire-affected landscapes together with local communities. In the Valencian Community we planted 6,756 trees to restore a burned landscape in Pego (2024–2025), and we are leading the community-based recovery of fire-damaged land in Fuente la Reina (Alto Mijares), selected for a BBVA Futuro 2026 award. That project includes planting more than 6,000 native trees, building water-retention and erosion-control structures, and training local young people in forest management. Through the MiMonte project, we help rural communities manage and restore Mediterranean forests to reduce wildfire risk. We also work in Murcia and the Peruvian Andes with local partners. We bring hands-on experience in post-fire restoration, fire prevention through forest management, community engagement, and collaboration with local authorities and companies.
