Cartel Feria de economía social
  • The event will take place on September 30th in the city of Murcia to facilitate the participation of all municipalities and to provide an opportunity to connect with urban initiatives that can be scaled to rural environments.
  • Organized jointly by the Directorate General of Social Economy and Ucomur, the event is open to the entire regional social economy entrepreneurship ecosystem, featuring 30 stands and a large turnout of young people.

The Union of Cooperatives of the Region of Murcia (Ucomur), together with the General Directorate of Social Economy and Self-Employment, is organizing the Social Economy and Rural Entrepreneurship Fair of the Region of Murcia on September 30th. This event, part of the Interreg Sudoe RESILIENTES Project, aims to bring the options and opportunities for starting a business in the Social Economy closer to people living in rural areas.

With around thirty stands and an estimated three hundred attendees, this fair aims to show entrepreneurs from the more rural areas of our region that it is possible to create cooperatives and social economy enterprises focused on activities that address local needs. Furthermore, they are not alone in this process, as Ucomur and other representative organizations of the Social Economy, as well as the General Directorate itself, are available to support them in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

The fair will feature talks, workshops, and even a live podcast recording to learn firsthand about cooperative experiences and entrepreneurial success stories within the Social Economy model. The workshops organized include the following:

  • Forestry cooperatives to utilize the resources of Murcia’s forests
  • The care economy in rural areas
  • Public procurement reserved for the social economy
  • Social Economy Pact and Rural Pacts in the Region of Murcia

This initiative aims to further promote and encourage the Social Economy, also in rural areas, which is the objective of the ResilientES Project – INTERREG SUDOE (co-financed by the European Union).

The project, of which Ucomur is a part, aims to “revitalize the non-urban, rural and inland territories of SUDOE (southwest European countries: Spain, France and Portugal) with the Social Economy as the engine of socio-economic development, based on the endogenous resources of these territories and the collaboration between local actors to generate quality jobs, guarantee access to services and retain population.”

The Social Economy and Rural Entrepreneurship Fair of the Region of Murcia will contribute to generating synergies and sharing experiences and initiatives in the field of the regional Social Economy, so that, together, local communities can flourish and prosper in a dynamic economic and social environment, within a more equitable, inclusive, sustainable development model rooted in the territory.

Registration is open until July 30th. To reserve a stand or participate in the proposed workshops, please fill out the following form:
