RePo-SUDOE researcher receives Best Poster Award at the Biophysics Festival 2026

Mejor Póster en el Biophysics Festival

Mara Custódio, a researcher supported by the RePo-SUDOE project, has received the Best Poster Presentation Award at the Biophysics Festival 2026, held on 11–12 June in Coimbra.

Organised by the Portuguese Young Biophysicists Group of the Portuguese Biophysics Society, the event brings together undergraduate, master’s and PhD students each year to promote scientific communication, knowledge exchange and collaboration among early-career researchers in biophysics.

The award-winning poster, Repurposing FDA-approved drugs for NorA inhibition: insights from docking and molecular dynamics simulations, was developed within the RePo-SUDOE project by Mara Custódio, Maria Edna Matos, Paula Coutinho and Hugo Filipe.

The study applies molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations to evaluate the potential of approved drugs as NorA inhibitors, supporting the identification of new therapeutic strategies through drug repurposing.

This award recognises the scientific quality of the research carried out within RePo-SUDOE and highlights the project’s contribution to the development of computational methodologies that accelerate the identification of new therapeutic opportunities.
