The Cyan’EAU project took part in the roundtable organised as part of the event “Building a Common Project: 25 Years of Cooperation in South-West Europe”, held in Santander to mark the 25th anniversary of the Interreg SUDOE Programme.
During the session, Olga Lage, representative of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), presented the main achievements and objectives of Cyan’EAU to the event participants. The presentation highlighted the work carried out by the consortium to improve the prevention, detection and mitigation of cyanobacterial blooms in water bodies across the SUDOE area through innovative tools and solutions based on transnational cooperation.
Following the presentations, participants joined a roundtable discussion alongside representatives of other Interreg SUDOE-funded projects from different thematic fields. The debate focused on the challenges encountered during project implementation, the importance of cooperation between regions and countries, and the strategies needed to ensure the continuity, transfer and uptake of project results beyond the funding period.
Cyan’EAU’s participation in this event provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences with other European initiatives, strengthen links with stakeholders from different sectors and highlight the contribution of European territorial cooperation to addressing shared challenges.
The event also helped showcase the role of projects such as Cyan’EAU in protecting aquatic ecosystems and promoting more sustainable water resource management, while further increasing the visibility of the consortium’s activities and their potential impact across the SUDOE territories.
