The European GestEAUr project took part in Caminho da Inovação 2026, held in Lisbon, an event that brought together more than 600 participants to share knowledge, experiences and innovative solutions for more sustainable and efficient water management.

On 1 October 2026, the Alcântara Water Factory in Lisbon (Portugal) hosted the tenth edition of Caminho da Inovação, organised by Águas do Tejo Atlântico, a partner of the GestEAUr project. The event brought together more than 600 participants, around 15 national and international speakers and 30 exhibitors, establishing itself as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among professionals, companies, universities and institutions involved in the water sector.

Under the theme “The Future of Water Is Not Obvious”, the event addressed some of the main challenges facing water resource management, including climate change adaptation, infrastructure resilience, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

The Interreg Sudoe GestEAUr project was present in the Expo & Networking area, dedicated to showcasing innovative projects, technologies and solutions. Its participation helped raise awareness of an initiative focused on improving water resource resilience through the use of alternative water sources, the digitalisation of water management and the development of sustainable solutions adapted to local needs.

Throughout the day, conferences, round tables and exhibition activities encouraged the exchange of experiences among researchers, public administrations, water management organisations and technology companies. Research and innovation initiatives related to water reuse, treatment process efficiency and the application of digital tools to water management were also presented.

GestEAUr’s participation in this event reflects its commitment to innovation, transnational cooperation and knowledge transfer, which are essential elements in moving towards more efficient, sustainable and circular water resource management.

After ten editions, Caminho da Inovação continues to provide a meeting point for research, technology and water management, supporting the development and dissemination of solutions to address the current and future challenges facing the sector.
