I-ReWater strengthens its presence at sector events on innovation and water reuse

The I-ReWater project continues to share its progress and results through participation in technical meetings and specialised forums linked to sustainable water management and innovation in the agri-food sector. During the month of March, representatives of the consortium are taking part in different leading events in Spain and Portugal to present the work carried out on the use of reclaimed water in irrigated agriculture.

18 March: participation in the VIII Water Innovation Day in Barcelona
On Wednesday, 18 March, Pablo Estévez Torrado, from Gestagua, takes part in the VIII Water Innovation Day, the annual meeting of the water sector promoted by the Catalan Water Partnership and held at the CosmoCaixa Auditorium in Barcelona. As part of this event, he presents the research developed by I-ReWater in the session “Elevator pitch for R&D projects for the sustainable use of water”, a space dedicated to innovative initiatives aimed at improving water efficiency.

25 March: webinar on water regeneration and reuse in the wine sector
On Wednesday, 25 March, Javier Cancela, coordinator of the I-ReWater project, will participate in the webinar “Water regeneration and reuse in the wine sector”, organised by the Wine Technology Platform in collaboration with the Spanish Wine Interprofessional Organisation and AgroBank. During his presentation, he will share the project’s main advances related to the use of reclaimed water in irrigated agriculture, with special attention to the three vineyard pilot sites developed in:

  • Alentejo (Portugal)
  • Occitanie (southern France)
  • La Rioja (Spain)

These pilot actions are led by the partners INIAV, INRAE Occitanie-Montpellier and the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences.

March: technical workshop on efficient irrigation water management in viticulture
Likewise, during the month of March, Javier Cancela is also taking part in one of the sessions of the training programme “Gestão Eficiente da Água de Rega na Viticultura”, organised by the Higher School of Agriculture of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, within the 2025/26 academic year.

At this workshop, water reuse in viticulture plays a central role in the presentations linked to the I-ReWater project, highlighting new strategies for more sustainable wine production.

Outreach and knowledge transfer
Through its presence at this type of event, I-ReWater reaffirms its commitment to knowledge transfer, international cooperation and the promotion of innovative solutions for the sustainable use of water resources in the SUDOE area.
