Universidade do Minho, a partner in the NEWPOWER – Interreg Sudoe project, is organising the parallel session “Advanced Bioprocessing” on Friday, 11 September 2026, as part of the XII International Forum on Industrial Bioprocesses, to be held at the Altice Forum Braga (Av. Dr. Francisco Pires Gonçalves, 4715-558 Braga, Portugal) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The session will bring together international researchers who will present advances in metabolic engineering, cascade enzymatic biotransformations, biomass valorisation through marine-derived cellulases, hybrid bioprocess modelling and the use of agri-food by-products, among other lines of work. Confirmed speakers include Lucília Domingues (Universidade do Minho), Zhi Li (National University of Singapore), Reeta Rani Singhania, Rui Oliveira (Universidade NOVA de Lisboa) and Lillian Barros (Instituto Politécnico de Bragança), as well as presentations by researchers from the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança on the revalorisation of agro-industrial by-products. The full programme can be accessed via the QR code included on the event poster.
This activity forms part of NEWPOWER’s Activity A2.4, “Dissemination of applications for a circular economy,” in which each consortium partner organises an in-person seminar to share the project’s progress with the scientific community, businesses and territorial stakeholders. The session contributes to the transfer of results related to residual biomass valorisation and to the visibility of the transnational cooperation driven by NEWPOWER in the Sudoe area.
Registration is free. You can register for the event at https://xiiiba-ifibiop.org/
NEWPOWER is a project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg Sudoe 2021-2027 Programme.
