SOLLAGUA presents a guide to foster innovation in sustainable water management through Living Labs

WORKSHOP IMAGEN

Spanish partner Funseam organised an online workshop to present the report “Definition of the NB-WoLL Action Plan”, a methodological guide to developing action plans that support the effective implementation of Living Labs focused on sustainable water management, water regeneration and reuse.

A publication of significant scientific value for initiatives working in the same field of research as SOLLAGUA.

The European project SOLLAGUA presented the report “Definition of the NB-WoLL Action Plan” during the online workshop “Living Labs as a Tool for Innovation: Defining the Action Plan”, organised by the Fundación para la Sostenibilidad Energética y Ambiental (Funseam), a Spanish project partner and the author of the publication.

The event provided an opportunity to present the main contents of this publication, which constitutes SOLLAGUA deliverable 2.5. Its aim is to provide a methodological framework for defining and implementing action plans that support the effective establishment of Living Labs focused on water management, as well as the regeneration and reuse of water resources.

The guide sets out a collaborative approach that enables public authorities, water utilities, businesses, research organisations and other stakeholders to take part in identifying priorities, defining specific actions and establishing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.

In this way, the publication seeks to contribute to the development of innovative solutions tailored to the needs of each territory, strengthen resilience to the impacts of climate change and advance more sustainable, integrated water management.

Cooperation as a key driver

The workshop programme included a presentation on the SOLLAGUA project by its scientific coordinator, Magali Gérino, from Université Toulouse III Paul Sabatier, as well as an account of the Catalan Water Partnership’s (CWP) experience from Lucia Gusmaroli, Head of European Projects and Internationalisation. The session was moderated by Joan Batalla, Director-General of Funseam, who also discussed the role of Living Labs as tools for innovation. To close the event, keynote speaker Fernando Vilariño, from the Centre de Visió per Computador (CVC) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and former President of the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), shared his experience of Living Labs, open innovation and stakeholder engagement.

The NB-WoLL strategy

The NB-WoLL (Nature-based Water-Oriented Living Labs) strategy is one of the key pillars of SOLLAGUA, promoting a participatory and collaborative approach to the development, testing and validation of nature-based solutions for sustainable water management. Through these Living Labs, the project aims to bridge the gap between research and the real needs of local communities, engaging public authorities, businesses, researchers and local communities in the design of solutions that promote water reuse and strengthen resilience to climate change.
