Pilot Implementation: Co-defining Cultural Programming Through Nodes (Artistic Residencies)
The implementation of this pilot is a core deliverable of the project, serving as one of four concrete activities where the participatory methodology for co-defining cultural programming will be tested through designated nodes.
Specifically, artistic residencies aim to foster cultural exchange and creative collaboration. Artists will work directly within communities, integrating local traditions and perspectives into the creative process. The work process itself is a key outcome; by collaborating with the community, it enriches the territory, strengthens a sense of belonging, and promotes inclusion through art. The residencies will offer activities to the general public to encourage tourism and the exploration of lesser-known territories, operating from a non-extractive perspective committed to sustainability.
From this perspective, special attention will be given to developing participatory processes that consider the following fundamental aspects:
Community participation with shared decision-making and a participatory work process as part of the outcome.
Revalorization of intangible heritage, placing the community at the heart of culture.
Promotion of local entrepreneurship and economy, with a focus on counteracting seasonal fluctuations.
Minimal environmental impact and sustainability of the actions.
Focus on equity, inclusion, and urban-rural rebalancing.
Considering these aspects, the co-design of the residencies with relevant stakeholders and local communities could include:
Selection of artistic disciplines and artists who will work within the community.
Type of content to be worked on and pieces that will remain in the territory.
Training for local mediators involving communities and external visitors, along with community management models.
Actions for economic revitalization, dissemination, and tourism promotion.
