Under Working Group 1 (GT1 – Knowledge Generation and Innovation), the FRUCTHOR-IA project has achieved a major scientific milestone with the publication of a new article in the prestigious journal Sensors and Actuators: A. Physical (ScienceDirect / Elsevier platform).

The study, titled “Design and grasp planning of a reconfigurable hybrid soft gripper using SINDy and virtual object representation”, was developed by researchers Eduardo Navas, Kai Blanco, Daniel Rodríguez-Nieto, and Roemi Fernández, representing the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CAR-CSIC), a partner and technical coordinator of the project.

This scientific publication addresses the development of innovative, reconfigurable, and adaptable robotic grippers—a critical technology to ensure efficient, autonomous harvesting in the fruit and vegetable sector without damaging the produce. This breakthrough embodies the consortium’s commitment to Open Knowledge, providing high-level innovation to drive Agriculture 4.0 within the Sudoe Space.

R&D Synergies

The publication of this article reflects the excellence of the research ecosystem and a strong institutional synergy. The research leading to these results was partially supported by the Interreg Sudoe programme (FRUCTHOR-IA project co-funded by the ERDF), alongside support from other leading initiatives, namely: funds from MICIU/AEI and ERDF; the iRoboCity2030-CM programme of the Community of Madrid; and CSIC’s intramural project IAMC-ROBI-II.
