Ultreia Sudoe Explores Visitor Monitoring Technologies on the Camino de Santiago in a New Public Webinar
The European Ultreia Sudoe project will hold the second session of its online seminar series on Thursday, 18 June 2026, from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. The webinar will focus on the use of technologies for measuring visitor flows on the Camino de Santiago. The session will be streamed live on YouTube and will include simultaneous interpretation.

Entitled “Comparative Analysis of Visitor Monitoring Technologies: Practical Case Studies on the Camino de Santiago”, the event will bring together experts in innovation, tourism management and data analytics to share real-world implementation experiences from across the territory.
The main objective of the webinar is to provide a practical overview of how different technological solutions can generate reliable data on pilgrim flows, while also examining their advantages, limitations and deployment challenges in a variety of environments.
A Programme Focused on Practical Application
The workshop will combine technical presentations with a discussion forum bringing together representatives from the territories participating in the project, addressing both technological and operational aspects.

- Real implementation cases from the Ultreia pilot projects
- Strengths and limitations compared to other technologies

Analysis of FSMLR’s role in the project, from field installation to data architecture:
- Deployment of sensors along routes, in urban environments and offices
- Integration of multiple technologies and providers
- Use of the MHS platform as a data gateway and API hub
- Interoperability between devices
- Data transfer to NOVA for the generation of indicators and dashboards
- Practical challenges: connectivity, maintenance, calibration and environmental adaptation

This second workshop is part of the Ultreia Sudoe project, which promotes the use of innovative technologies to improve the sustainable management of the Camino de Santiago. Visitor flow data analysis is presented as a key tool for anticipating visitor movements, optimising resources and enhancing the pilgrim experience.
