The RePo-SUDOE project continues to promote scientific and technological innovation through its participation in the international XR Salento 2026 conference, held from 16 to 20 June in Otranto, Italy. António Costa, a member of the project team, presented the study Immersive Virtual Reality for Molecular Visualization: A Preliminary Study in Outreach Contexts.
The research explores the use of immersive virtual reality for three-dimensional molecular visualisation and its application in science outreach activities. The study demonstrates how immersive technologies can improve the understanding of complex biological systems by providing interactive experiences that make science communication more accessible and engaging.
Participation in XR Salento 2026 reinforces RePo-SUDOE’s commitment to integrating emerging technologies into research, education and science communication. It also strengthens the project’s international visibility, promotes knowledge exchange and creates new opportunities for collaboration in immersive technologies applied to life sciences.
