On 24th June, the RePo-SUDOE project welcomed students from the Health Care Assistant vocational programme at Almeida Secondary School. During the visit, the students learned about the project’s objectives and main activities, focused on drug repurposing as a strategy to identify new therapeutic uses for approved medicines and accelerate the development of innovative healthcare solutions.
The visit also included a demonstration of the immersive technologies used within the project, allowing participants to explore biological structures in three dimensions through virtual and augmented reality. These tools highlighted the potential of XR technologies to support research, education and science communication by providing a more intuitive understanding of complex biological systems.
Through this initiative, RePo-SUDOE reinforces its commitment to promoting scientific culture and strengthening the connection between research and society, encouraging younger generations to explore the potential of science, innovation and emerging technologies in addressing healthcare challenges.
