The Dordogne Chamber of Agriculture (CDA24) is an organization closely involved in the management of irrigation water within its territory. As a Single Collective Management Organization (OUGC), it coordinates the management of water abstraction permits for agricultural use across the Dordogne basin and supports irrigators in improving their irrigation practices. Through the “Technical Support for Irrigators in Nouvelle-Aquitaine” programme, it promotes a more efficient and sustainable use of water resources.
Strong Expertise in Water Efficiency
CDA24 has extensive experience in technical advisory services, monitoring irrigation practices, and assessing water needs. It relies on an agrometeorological network consisting of 60 stations in Dordogne and more than 600 stations across Nouvelle-Aquitaine, as well as the OGAYA Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie network, which monitors irrigated plots to improve knowledge and management of agricultural water resources.
This expertise is complemented by training and awareness-raising activities for farmers, as well as participation in territorial strategies aimed at climate change adaptation and the optimization of water use.
Contribution to the Project
Within the framework of e-Rigation, CDA24 will contribute to the collection and integration of the data required for the development of a virtual weather station system, as well as to the improvement of digital decision-support tools for irrigation management. It will also support the validation of solutions under real-life conditions, user training activities, and the assessment of the system’s economic viability.
Its in-depth knowledge of the local context and extensive network of farmers will facilitate the uptake and dissemination of the solutions developed through the project.
A Commitment to Innovation and European Cooperation
Participation in e-Rigation will enable CDA24 to strengthen its technical capabilities and advance the development of innovative solutions for more efficient water management in agriculture. In addition, the organization has substantial experience in European projects, having participated in Interreg and Erasmus+ initiatives related to climate change adaptation, water management, precision agriculture, and rural development. This experience further enhances its capacity to contribute to the successful implementation of the project.
