Choice Treee

Methodology for the development, participatory validation and automation of the decision tree to support the selection of water treatment and reuse solutions in the agricultural sector.
A document of significant technical value for all initiatives developed along the same line of research as SOLLAGUA.

The objective of deliverable 1.2.1 «Design of the SOLLAGUA Decision Tree Tool» is to present the methodology, the iterative development process, the content, and the scope of validation of this decision tree within the framework of the project. The document describes how, based on a comprehensive technical and regulatory state-of-the-art review, an alpha version was designed and subsequently refined and transformed into a beta version through a co-creation process involving local stakeholders in the Couserans region and in other similar contexts. This Living Lab approach, based on semi-structured interviews, user testing and rapid prototyping, made it possible to adapt the tool to the real needs and operational constraints of farmers and managers.

Furthermore, the report describes the process of automating the tool through the development of a Python script, as a first step towards its future consolidation as an interactive platform. The final stage of converting the tool into a fully operational digital version for integration into the SOLLAGUA platform is not included in this deliverable. In this sense, the document does not merely describe a conceptual tool, but presents the development of a methodological and functional instrument designed to support regional stakeholders in making informed decisions on appropriate treatment methods, thereby contributing to accelerating the transition towards more resilient agriculture and circular water resource management.
